“I wish everyone a Happy Easter, and hope that you are sharing love, happiness, and kindness, to those close to you, and to whoever you can.
This Easter is unlike any other. Being in lockdown, or in as close to lockdown as we’ve ever been, with this terrible COVID-19 pandemic, can make us wonder why this is happening? Why? Why? Why?
Sometimes there is no reason. Sometimes things just happen. As Tom Hanks’s character says, in the movie Forest Gump:
“I don’t know if we each have a destiny, or if we’re all just floating around accidental-like on a breeze, but I, I think maybe it’s both. Maybe both is happening at the same time..”
I do believe that things happen for a reason. We are each on our own path through the world, and we meet people, become who we want to be, and who we are, and shape our destiny, and often things happen for a reason. You can feel it. And know it. That things are happening just as they are meant to be.
But I also believe that sometimes things happen for no reason at all. A virus randomly mutated into a version of itself that is deadly to humans, and has created a pandemic. And has unfortunately killed so many people, and affected so many lives. It is so sad. But why?
No reason. Sometimes unfortunately things just happen.
But it’s how we deal with things that happen, that shows our true strength of spirit.
It’s how we react to events like this, that makes us have faith in humanity. When we see how much people are helping each other, to do the best we can to slow and prevent the spread of this virus. And ultimately save lives.
Social distancing, which can in a way feel like such an unnatural thing, as we are social creatures, is one of the main ways to prevent the spread, which takes the pressure off healthcare systems, and ultimately saves many lives.
And we are doing such a great job of making it work. We may be far from being out of the woods yet, but we are getting there.
Together.
I would like to say today how proud I am of You!
To the healthcare workers on the front line. To the teachers making the necessary shift to online learning. To the people caring for our elders. To the people driving the trucks, to keep vital supplies going. To the people stacking shelves in the supermarket, keeping food and supplies on the shelves.
To the stay at home mums and dads. To the people who are going through such difficult times, being put out of work for the moment. To everyone who is staying at home, when you’d much rather be out doing things.
To everyone who is doing the best that you can to help others, by social distancing, washing your hands, and helping to keep our community safe.
To YOU.
Thankyou.
It is always important to be kind to others, kind to everyone we meet.
At the moment people are showing that so much. Thankyou.
It is always important to have hope. At the moment, that is more important than ever. Thankyou.
It is always important to show respect and kindness to everyone, and look out for others, and by doing your best to prevent the spread of COVID-19 you are doing that. You are saving people’s lives. Thankyou.
To each and every one of you, I would like to say Thankyou. It is so important that we look after each other, and support each other.
Everyone is hurting at the moment. Often you’d have no idea how much someone is hurting, or what they or their loved ones are going through. Thankyou for showing respect, support, and being non judgemental of others.
This year has thrown more challenges than any of us would have thought possible, but we are slowly getting through this, together.
If you have lost a friend or loved one, my heart goes out to you. It is such a terrible thing.
If you are finding life difficult right now, and may be feeling depressed, anxious, confused, grieving, or simply lost… My heart goes out to you.
Just know that we will get through this.
Keep spreading love, light, happiness, warmth, kindness, and compassion.
Things will be much better in time. We just have to continue to work together.
I’m sure my Easter Message to you next year will be much brighter. Because we will have a bright future.
And that is thanks to You.
Wishing everybody all the best for Easter, and please stay safe.”
